The Naoi Experience

A session begins
long before the photos.

So that the day itself stays simple,
we prepare together what can be prepared.

From your first message to the moment you open your gallery, here's how it all unfolds, simply.

Todaythe first message

“Where do I start?”

Write to me about what you have in mind, even if it isn't very clear yet: a wish, an image that inspires you, a place, a mood, a moment in your child's life — or simply a question.

You don't need to have it all imagined already. A few words are enough to begin.

I reply personally, within 48 hours
Nextwe prepare the session

“And after my message?”

We start from what you have in mind, then refine it together — in three steps, at your own pace.

We talk

About your child — their temperament, what they love, and what puts them at ease. You also tell me what you'd like to find in these images — or what you really don't want.

By message or by phone. And if you'd rather we meet, or that I get to know your child before the session, we can also have a coffee in Nancy.

The setting takes shape

At your home, in the Pépinière park, on place Stanislas or along the banks of the Meurthe: we choose a setting that suits your child, the light and the mood we're after.

You can send me images that inspire you, or a few photos of outfits you already have. I'll help you see what can work together, simply.

And for some sessions, we can go further — all the way to a dedicated appointment at a partner boutique in Nancy. Explore the wardrobe guidance →

The date is set

And nothing is set in stone. Right up to the day of the session, you can always write to me if an idea changes, if you're torn between two outfits, or if something shifts in the plans.

You have nothing else to prepare — I take care of the rest.

Once the setting is chosen, we find the date and time that suit you.

J−1the weather check

“What if the weather isn't good?”

The day before, I check the forecast, because light is part of the session.

A veiled sky can give beautiful light. Steady rain, on the other hand, can rule out what we'd imagined.

If an adjustment is needed, I call you and we decide together: shift the time, change the place, or choose another date.

I only get in touch the day before if needed
On the daythe session

“What if my child won't cooperate?”

Your child comes just as they are that day.

There's no need for them to be coached to pose. Their mood, their energy, their bursts of movement or their quieter moments are all part of the session.

I'm not after a series of poses. I start from what's happening: a sudden idea, a way of moving, a gesture that's theirs, or a moment when they simply forget the camera.

It's that spontaneity that lets the photos truly look like them.

Their rhythm

Some children step right into the session. Others start by watching, testing, or staying close to their parents.

I suggest a direction, sometimes a movement or a game, then I adjust to how they respond. We move forward from what they give me, without trying to make them follow a script set in advance.

You can stay close to them, walk, play, or talk to them just as you usually would. I guide you only when it helps.

Pauses and detours

A one- or two-hour session doesn't necessarily run in a single stretch. We can stop, move somewhere else, or let a quieter moment pass — depending on their age, their energy, and what's happening that day.

I've learned not to see these moments as interruptions. Time and again, it's exactly when a child stops thinking about the session that the images closest to them appear.

After the sessiondiscovering the photos

“When do we get to see the images?”

Then comes a little pause — ten to fifteen days, depending on the session. That's the time I devote to your images. They're well worth it.

First, the selection. Among all the images from the session, I choose the ones that best capture your child as I saw them that day — their way of being, their expressions, what belongs to them alone.

Then comes the editing. Mine is deliberately restrained: light, tones, balance — nothing more. No smoothed skin, no replaced sky. Your child stays your child, and in ten years, these images will still be true.

When everything is ready, you receive the link to your private gallery. You discover the images at your own pace, at home, as a family — and you download your selection in high resolution.

Some images don't want to stay on a screen.

Your photos are delivered in high resolution — they're yours. But sometimes an image asks for more: a wall, a paper, a texture.

A fine art print or the Naoi Album: prepared from your selection, so these images live in your home, not only in a folder.

From one of your photographs, a portrait drawn entirely by hand, in Saigon, by one of my artist friends.

Another life for an image that matters.

“And when they've grown up?”

Children change quickly — that's exactly why we photograph them.

Children change quickly.

That's exactly why we photograph them.

If you'd like to find that same gaze at several stages of their childhood, the Naoi Journey carries the thread onward: the same care, the same gentleness, a year apart or at whatever pace is yours.

What if the next thread were yours?
